Hi! My name is Julia Zhu. I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at San Diego State University.Â
I am an applied microeconomist. My research interests are in labor economics, economics of migration, and economics of education.
I have several lines of active research that investigate the causes and effects of high-skilled immigration, labor market institutions and inequality, local impacts of immigration enforcement policies, climate change and migration, attitude formation towards immigrants and racial minorities, and population estimation using demographic techniques.
Prior to joining SDSU, I was a postdoctoral fellow in labor economics at the Department of Economics and the FAIR Center at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). I received my PhD from Cornell University in 2022.
